[edit] History

In the 1970s, Central hall was the venue for The Who, The Kinks, Fairport Convention, John Martyn, Ian Drury and the Blockheads, Hot Chocolate, Humphrey Littleton, John Williams and many other famous musical artists and speakers. Once, Paul McCartney appeared out of the blue with his band ‘Wings' and performed a concert that night in Goodricke College.

The last band ever to play in Central Hall were the Boomtown Rats. During their set, Bob Geldof told everyone who couldn't see to come to the front of the auditorium. Nearly 300 people did so and danced on the orchestra pit cover, which caused damage to the tune of £1,000. YUSU took Mr. Geldof to court.
