FragSoc is the University of York's LAN Gaming Society, that holds LAN gaming weekends on campus in order for students to play games in a friendly environment with lots of other gamers. Despite being based at the university, FragSoc has proven popular amongst other local gamers and there is often a considerable non-student turnout, with approximately 50 gamers total at each event.

Events usually run in Goodricke College three times a term. Typically end of weeks three, five and eight. FragSoc is sponsored by SteelSeriesand Crucial who often provide prizes for tournaments. Typical tournaments include Counter Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004.

Fragsoc aims to be an inclusive society and tries to cater for the interests of all different kinds of gamers, running games on demand of members and also running casual console games / dance mats. On top of this, the FragSoc committee has a cut price pizza deal with Pizza Hut currently giving a large discount on our orders, which is passed directly onto members ordering through FragSoc at an event.

Socials also run once or twice a term for a quiet drink and chat. These are free to attend by all whether they are members or not, and generally take place on a Wednesday evening ending up in Ziggy's. The society also endeavours to run laser quest and air-softing socials occasionally which again subsidised for members where possible.

Membership is £5 (includes first event free)
Subsequent events cost £2.50 each
Pizzas are £6.50 for any pizza on the menu (currently excludes speciality bases) n.b. for the autumn term the price has been reduced further to £6 as we are using the 50% vouchers they gave out at the freshers fair!
