[edit] Langwith College Info
[edit] History
Langwith was one of the first two colleges to be built (the other being Derwent College), opened on 22nd October 1965 by Queen Elizabeth II. It is named after the Langwith Common, which stretches south-east from Heslington village.
Its motto is “Vincit qui se vincit” (“He who conquers himself”), an adage that is shared with one of Australia’s most distinguished educational and corrective institutions, Wagga Wagga High School.
[edit] Structure
The college is now home to the English and Education departments.
[edit] Staff
The Langwith Provost is John Issitt, but college members still pay homage to the previous provost Dr. Ron Clayton with the annual 'Ron Awards'.
