[edit] Introduction for freshers
This information is designed for those of you who have just joined the University and no idea of what to expect from a student society.
Many of you will have been sold the normal university speal about student societies being an important part of your student life however there are many different levels of involvement. Don't worry if you only have a passing interest in photography, we won't force you to live, eat and sleep photos. Similarly if you are really interested in photography there is only so much the society can offer you because photography is so unique to each of you.
What we aim to do is give you opportunities to expand you photographic experience in York. We will not make you a 'good' photographer. But we will run workshops throughout the year on improving aspects of your photography. If you are a complete novice, we can offer you more professional equipment from our equipment store so you can decide if you really want to make that extra investment. However if you are just looking for contacts on campus, we can put you in touch with the student press, or offer you community based projects.
However if you are looking for something more that we do not currently offer there is nothing to stop you becoming more involved. Run a trip, or give us suggestions for speakers.
