  • Annoucements

Senate is open to all University members who are entitled to speak, although only those above hold a vote.

[edit] Controversy

The Senate (then known as the executive) was heavily critised after it effectively overturned a student vote on a major constitution change, causing many students to have run for YUSU positions which were then removed. The dispute came into effect due to the confusion in the definition and application of "abstentions" - which was intensified by a previous close vote.

[edit] Closed Session

Senate can be taken to a 'Closed Session' which means excluding all but voting members. This can be employed when discussing a matter of privacy and those within the meeting are bound to keep it confidential.
